Privacy policy
Last updated 8 October 2026. This policy covers the Glass app for macOS, published by Ville Mäki (“we”).
The short version
Glass runs entirely on your Mac. We do not operate a server, we do not have accounts, and we never receive your files, your sign-in details or information about how you use the app.
What Glass accesses
When you connect a Google account, Glass asks Google for permission to:
- See your basic profile and email address, to label the account in Glass and in Finder.
- See and download your Google Drive files and their details (names, folders, sizes, dates, sharing), to show them in Finder and in Glass, and to open the files you choose.
- Read your Gmail messages and attachments, only if you choose to connect Gmail, to show attachments in Finder and include them in search on your Mac.
When you connect a Dropbox account, Glass asks Dropbox for read access to your files, their details and your account name.
How that data is used and stored
- Data moves directly between your Mac and Google or Dropbox over encrypted connections. It never passes through us or anyone else.
- Sign-in tokens are stored in your Mac's Keychain.
- File details and downloaded files are kept on your Mac so Finder can show them, and so you can search them. The search index is stored on your Mac.
- Glass contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and does not send crash reports.
- We do not sell, share or transfer your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Google API Services
Glass's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from Google is used only to provide Glass's features to you on your Mac. It is not used to develop, improve or train generalised artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
Removing your data
- Disconnecting an account in Glass deletes its sign-in tokens, its Finder location and the files and details cached for it on your Mac.
- To remove everything before deleting Glass, disconnect each account first.
- You can also revoke Glass's access at any time in your Google account or Dropbox account settings.
Children
Glass is not directed at children under 13.
